Twilight

Because of immense buzz for this first film adaptation of Stephenie Meyer's Twilight series of novels, some have compared this tween and teen phenom to Harry Potter. Like the last two Potter movies, this ...

There is no extramarital sex in the Twilight movie or the books. I am the only person I know that made a covenant with God before engaging in sexual activity with my husband. That is a huge encouragement to me that people still believe in abstinance. The book is much more rewarding than the movie, but it is a FANTASY Love Story. It does however relate to Christianity. Allowing God to control your life and not your Human nature. God's word emphasises that in Christ we are a NEW CREATURE...our natural desires are to pass away and all of us is to become new. I like the image of a vampire overcoming it's natural desires to do what is RIGHT. In God's eyes, anything we do apart from Him is abominable, and what better image of repulsion, as a Christian, than an out of control murdering vampire as EVIL.

Twilight is a love story, its a novel that takes two people and shoes the kind of struggles that encompass relationships. Meyer's creativity uses a classic vampire-human to illustrate this love. She does not use the typical lust and sex that comes with a vampire movie but rather introduces and new kind of character. Edward doesn't want to settle for what he is, he chooses to rise above what has been given him and seeks out a life that allows him to make peace with what he is. Meyer tells their story tastefully while upholding christian values regarding boundaries, marriage and sex. There is nothing wrong with a little imagination, everything in moderation right? You can have a drink wine or you can drink the whole bottle, i believe that Meyer's story is is just a a drink.

what on earth is wrong in a world where Christians can even mildly endorse a film or book that involves occultist creatures, teenage lying, unwed sex, the list goes on and on? Folks who call themselves by the Name of Jesus really should adhere to His Book, and avoid all appearance of evil, flee fornication, purify their minds by meditating on that which is good , pure, lovely and true. I am shocked to see Christians reading this book and watching this movie, and telling others that it is ok to do the same. It is shocking.

I am a Christian, and I do not see anything wrong with the Twilight Saga. In Breaking Dawn, Bella and Edward make love, but it does not include the exact details, but they get married first. The baby does not bite or claw its way out of Bella's stomach. My point is, there is NOTHING wrong with the book series. In the book the vampires want to be human, and it doesn't praise them or anything. In the movie it is rated PG-13 when Bella and Edward make out, and for violence.

I love the twilight series and they do wait until there married to have sex. the movie does not glorify vampires and its a nice love story twist. the pg-13 rating is appropriate... in my opinion. if any parents have concerns they should read the books there is much more detail to them. i personally cant wait for new moon.

If you had read the books you would know that they do not have sex till they are married, and there is no detailed sex scene in any of the books. They do go on their honeymoon and do talk leading up to the sex but that's it. They tell nothing of the actual sex. Also the baby does not rip its way through her stomach.

What is sad is that parents do not chose to guard their childs purity. The bible says to guard your mind and heart. If Jesus was sitting in your living room would you put this movie on for Him to sit and watch with you and your kids? Im amazed at the above comment that endorses this book and movie. Do you know anything about the rest of the series? About the very detailed sex scene along with a half human half vampire ripping its way out of her stomach???? This is NOT pure and holy thoughts for us or for our children. I will continue to stand firm and not read or watch the series and i encourage all parents to do the same. We need to stop compromising!

Angel is right you have a wide open door to satan, have no association with darkness--this is garbage disguised by satan as a love story-it makes me want to puke--"Live as if eternity is the measure of all things"

I had a chance to watch the movie because my son wanted to see it so I viewed it first. It's a love story. I was completely impressed with the language, the content, Edward's respect for Bella and so many reasons why this movie was easy to love. Reading the books has proved to me that I made a smart decision allowing my son to see the movie and telling friends about it. This movie is simular to Titanic- it wasnt about a boat and this movie is not about vampires. It upsets me that as Christians we dont research these subjects before jumping to holier than thou opinions. Vampires are not glorified in this movie- but Edward views himself as a monster. He doesnt kill humans but animals...so many contradicitions that allow me to feel comfortable with MY personal decision to share this with you and my family. Enjoy, its a great movie!

God gave us freedom to chose of whatever things we want. Eccle. 11:9 says Rejoice, O young man, in your youth, and let your heart cheer you in the days of your youth. Walk in the ways of your heart and the sight of your eyes. But know that for all these things God will bring you into judgment. I saw the movie. Their love story was great. Well, anyway everybody has different opinions.

Obviously this reviewer does not read the Bible where it says "abhor evil" in Romans 12. Today, reviewers such as this show a total lack of discernment. This movie/book is just evil. Truly, if you find this entertaining, you must ask yourself if you really want to "cling to that which is good" (also in Romans 12). Bottom line, why would any lover of God think that anything such as this is in the middle ground? Note: I would have given this zero stars, but you had to post one star to submit.

Romans 14. Everyone has their personal convictions. IF you are convicted dont watch it. If it doesnt affict you than do. People had issues with eating and not eating meat sacrificed to idols. But only dont do it if it makes someone stumble. In all things do in love.

This review just confirms what I already knew, the Lord Jesus is coming soon !!!!!!! Isa 5:20 Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter! I only gave it a star in order to post

DH   Posted: May 09, 2009 6:30 PM
Hey, in reply to Angel- why do you think it's allowing satan a foothold? I agree the movie was pretty lame complared to the books, which were pretty good, but I wouldn't say "garbage". I'm not attacking your opinion, just curiouss as to what you meant.

angel   Posted: May 08, 2009 9:11 AM
I'm disappointed at the lack of discernment Christians have... why are you watching this trash? You are allowing satan a foothold in your life by watching this garbage...

This book made me miserable. O, sure every girl wants a boyfriend who is crazy about her, but we don't want someone moody, scary and life threatening--with cold lips! Yuck! What about all the danger he put her in--with his associates--- not to mention his driving. We all like to read romance stories--just give me a nice sweet, safe boyfriend, any day. I wouldn't want my love life to be like a horror movie.

Crystal   Posted: May 05, 2009 12:12 PM
LOL.....come on people it's just a movie, the good wins!

ray   Posted: April 26, 2009 11:53 AM
this movie is evidence of modern christianities whoredom with the world. Truely when the people call evil good and good evil we are living in the last days. In the name of Jesus touch not the unclean things and come out from among the heathen and those who are perishing in their sins!

Go Shawna, Matthew, Patty and Kere! Right there with you guys! I read all the books, loved the movie (it could have been better special affects though) and a lot of you are over reacting just because it's about vampires. ooooh, scary. it's a great love story just with a twist to make it suspenseful and dangerous. And it's not like it's sadistic or anything. They are more like superheroes than demons. And it is FICTION. a story for FUN. to get lost in the fantasy for a while. for ENTERTAINMENT. it's not a cult or a religion. So you guys need to calm down. And maybe even try reading the book. Unless you hate love stories or something. But otherwise i think most of you would like it. It's just like any other action movie except there's a little more romance and the characters are vampires. it's not like people are getting down on their knees and worshipping them!! GET A GRIP PEOPLE!!!!!!

My friends have all read and watched Twilight. I beg of you, please don't watch this. I'm only 13, but my life is pretty much ruined because of Twilight, I lost my friends. I prefer the Bible. It has everything Twilight does, romance, action, and demonds, which is what vampires really are. So you can read all that, and it is a classic literature, very classic. Plus after you read it you know you did something good, God would be proud. If you can read something or look at something with God looking over your shoulder, you know you've done something right. God says that your body is a temple of the Lord, so shouldn't you keep the temple clean, and not fill it with garbage like Twilight?
