The Not-for-Profit Surge
Even in tough times, your favorite charities are doing better than anyone expected.

Two decades ago, Carolyn Cooper took a life-changing short-term mission trip to the Dominican Republic. While she was there, her heart went out to a starving eight-month-old baby named Lusitania. The ...

Why don't you do some research on each individual charity before you lump them all in the same pot? $10 of gross? What does that mean? You don't get paid gross, so...

I wish the article addressed church planting.

I voted "other" because I will not give any monies to any "faith-based" church charity on principle. IMO, these churches has become nothing more than agents of the state and fall under the catagorey of Pergamus. I have increased my giving to the church I am a member of though from 10% of gross to 15%+ a little more from time to time.

Since I do fundraising for a large Christian charity, this was a very helpful and interesting article for me, and one which I will be sharing with leadership. Our organization has tended to use specific strategies over a very long period of time, and it will be good to point out how other large organizations are expanding their toolkits for reaching new friends and maintaining the relationships.

God's Holy Spirit has been focussing Christian giving toward the two major legs that evangelism walks on, the preached or spoken Word, and the caregiving part of the Gospel. Also, the Lord has been inspiring many of the international evangelistic organizations to help each other, serve each other, as Jim Green from the JESUS Film Project recently pointed out. The website I run has had this very motive toward supporting giving to other ministries to help get the job done that Jesus gave us to do, as explained on the sites Mission Statement (see http://www.UNITYINCHRIST.COM/missionstatement.htm ). There are innovative ways to give, as well, as explained in that mission statement. Some organizations are already following similar plans. We must not stop our giving toward the proclamation of the Gospel and toward the Christian caregiving organizations in tough times, we must increase it, if possible, or hold fast in our giving, if that's all we can do. That's our job assignment.

This is a good article but it does not address the continued decline in american missions giving and giving to christian organizations in general.
