How does the biblical storyline relate to America's all-time-low moving rate?

If you needed yet another reminder that the economy is struggling, the U.S. Census Bureau provided one in April. Only 35.2 million Americans changed residences between March 2007 and March 2008, the fewest ...

A lot of persons are making decent money at companies in the wealthy usa? They do not know that the usa likes 40 hour a week jobs.A workhorse for an jerks and decent guys.Christians should want to spend time with family and watch over their family. like a 32 hour week job.Youth die everyday after school? Some persons think that is ig to work 32 hours.I think it is a better life.Looks like business groups are becoming very greedy and want to invest or especially own companys. So watchout!!Also crimianls will not band together to lobby for decent cell jails and safe decent prisons. they take out on tipsteres and victims family.Gov should know. this easy idea or.Well create alter beleivin, righteous loving Jesus Christ nation(brown, white cross cloth) groups.Watchout for tricksters. hope the anti christ does not charge yet. Also in think that over 80% lost or corrupt out there. Evil plots and we do not know it.Vote brownback or other christian republicans.Psa99outsidepray.serve rapture church

This article just seems to be wishful thinking not backed up by any facts. Yes, change of residence and even divorce has gone down recently, counter to a long term upward trend. But this can entirely be explained by the bad economy and lack of funds to make major changes.

I remember what the Scripture says in Hebrews: "here we have no continuing city." I cannot even count how many times we have moved, but I know I have crossed the ocean 20 times. In the old days, we moved from our place of missionary work to the mountains higher up in the summer, and because the children's mission school was there. In the fall, we moved back down. I am glad the mobility took place when we were younger! I hope we are where we now are and can remain until Christ returns or we are called home, whichever comes first.

I serve as a pastor in a large denomination which does not make pastors move. Our bishop noted recently that, contrary to all his past experience, pastors are not moving much at all. They are staying put so much that the bishop's staff of fill in, or interim, pastors are out of work. A portion of the change in mobility is due to some pastors not retiring right now due to pension funds going down, but that does not cover the majority of the pastors. My family of origin (not a clergy family) has really stopped moving. We moved extensively in the 50s to the 70s, but in the past decade we have gotten more settled in where we are, and that includes job changes for most of us.

Contrary to the comment above, I think this trend is worth reflecting upon. But I think I might approach it from the angle of Christian leadership. A Methodist bishop recently commented to me that whereas he previously had the ability to move pastors from one place to another, it is as if they are now on strings, and only willing to move to churches within driving distance. I've wondered if this is because spouses' incomes are increasingly higher, or whether there are other factors involved.

Are we running out of story ideas?

When you look at the poll results -- showing that more than 65% have moved more than 5 times and 33% have moved more than 10 times -- the thesis of this article makes no sense, and shows too much reliance on incomplete statistical research.
