Up, the tenth feature film from Pixar Animation Studios, is a swashbuckling, continent-hopping adventure and an under-stated, nuanced psychodrama. It's an outlandish, wildly creative fantasy and an almost ...

In New Zealand we're a bit behind US viewers on this one. I saw it last night. The word I'd use is wondrous. For all the reasons people have already made. But also for the subtleties in the script - eg, the hearing aid scaring the dogs off, the uses of the tennis balls on the walker, the picnics on the hill in the early sequence ... It was about life and death, really, and although it didn't have an obvious Scriptural message, there was some lovely imagery about sharing your burdens (a house on a rope - or was it a hose?). I just can't believe people can write and animate so cleverly. We celebrate the creativity of God's people.

IS- clearly you were not paying attention at all. (Or you never saw the movie) Kevin is a female. And this is later realized by the characters. The little boy just named the bird Kevin because it was a quick assumption made by a child. The bird was not a representation of homosexuality at all. Perhaps you should clear your obviously clouded sense of perception, not down a beautifully moving family film, just because it isn't Veggie Tales or Angel Wars. All in all, this film was wonderful. I enjoyed every single second of it, and the beginning brought me to tears. (Something that is hard to do, mind you.) I can't wait till its DVD release! Thank god that there are people still want to make films like this. We need more.

...are you SERIOUS? this movie had nothing to do with "the gay issue." if it does, it's so subtle i hardly think your children are in any danger, since i didn't even pick up on it. i think it's time for us to put down our paranoid shields and actually engage the real world. and maybe enjoy it once in a while.

Did anybody think there was an underlying message to the movie? A "female", "rainbow" colored bird named "Kevin"...honestly, I can't help but think that there might be more to this story? The gay issue is being thrown at us from every angle. Once again, Hollywood is trying to teach our children their philosophy- right underneath our noses.

This movie has as much for elder 'children' as it offers the young ones. Dreams are ellusive and can be attained a la Bucket List, or we may realize through some Way that we've already attained them without knowing so. Life is a dream. Enjoy every bit of it as our Lord intended. EXCELLENT message!

My husband and I saw it last Saturday and absolutely loved it. There was a real story behind the whole special effects stuff, with well rounded characters. It had all the stuff of life - sorry, joy, adventure and lots in between. Pixar is doing what Disney used to do.

An excellent film! Not just a great kid's movie, but a great film overall! I'm 20 years old and I was touched by how well the story was told. The scene where Carl finally looks near the end of the photo album to see his wife's heartfelt message to him brought tears to my eyes. A definitely must see for both mature child and adult alike! Keep it up Pixar!

My 8-year-old daughter didn't particularly enjoy it, but I thought it was absolutely wonderful. Poignant really is the best word to describe it. Every adult of every age needs to see this touching film.

Loved it! What a heart warming, marriage affirming, wonderful movie! I cried and laughed. And when it was over told everyone I knew to go see this movie!

I loved this movie! Great family movie for all ages. And the little short film in the beginning was also very cute and funny.

Absolutely wonderful movie. My two kids - ages 12 and 9 - are both saying this is their favorite movie of all time. I have to agree with them -- it explores some wonderful "heart issues" that have spurred great conversations in our family. It is an emotional ride (bring something to wipe your eyes) and worth every penny of the price of admission. This is Pixar's best movie yet.

I absolutely LOVED this movie! Even if it had ended after the first 10 minutes, I would have been more than satisfied. It was a beautiful, moving, and unexpected look at the need in all of us to simply be loved. This masterpiece will forever remain relevant.

Wonderful movie. All the themes the reviewer mentioned are there, but don't miss the story of mankind's relationship to God's Creation. Is this a materialistic world to be dissected and captured so that "progress" can come? Or, is this a land of wonder where men must save the creatures entrusted to their care. Our actions have impacts: As Russell says woefully after the old man tries to ditch the wondrous bird, "Now that she's gone, there's more chocolate for you." Do we just want more material sweets, or will we as the rejuvinated man finally realizes take our rightful place as "master" and friend to the world God has placed under our care. Brilliant moview. See it . . . maybe twice.

My 16 year old son and I just loved this film. It had us laughing and crying. It is wonderful...I think it is Pixar's best. Just goes to show that you can make a fantastic movie without bad language or crude humor and keep you totally entertained.

It was a great movie. In the words of Larry the Cucumber, "I laughed, I cried, it moved me Bob!" What else needs to be said.

We took our three-year-old to see it over the weekend, and we all loved it!

The opening 15 minutes is movie making perfection. An absolutely wonderful film; poignant, funny, and affirming. Pixar just keeps hitting homeruns!

This is one of those films that can make you laugh and tear up at the same time, which makes it practically perfect in my book. It's poignant and goofy and gorgeous. I loved it, the 7 & 5 year old boys I watched it with loved it, the 14 year old girls in the front row loved it - two thumbs up from everybody in our theater, I think.
