Martyrs Killed by Conspiracy
Investigation links Malatya murders to cabal of generals, politicians.

In April 2007, five young men tortured and killed two Turkish converts and a German Christian at a Christian publishing house in the southeastern city of Malatya. When the resulting trial began in January ...

Christians, and especially American Christians, need to become aware of the fact that this is, and has been a hostile world to Christians (and Americans). But it is getting worse, both for Christians and Americans, some of that earned by America's past dealings through "dollar diplomacy", esp. in South and Central America. We've been too often the "ugly Americans" who think we can boss the world around. Too bad American Christians may have to pay for the sins of the nation in this regards. And we ought to be "wise as serpents and gentle as doves" in our dealings, traveling plans, and missions to the world, as a direct result of all this (and the picture is far more complex than it looks from the surface).

In the country where I live and work, there are Muslims who feel that the rights of ALL people should be protected, that Christians should have the freedom to practice their faith without fear of terror. There might be others, a smaller group, who feel that killing Christians will please their deity and fulfill their mandate. It simply shows that Islam, in my view, is much too diverse to classify as either one or the other. So I thank God for those lawyers in Turkey who were willing to take this case because of its larger implications. And, by the way, in spite of the name, I am a believer and follower of Jesus, an American and a Christian since my teen years.

Four words to describe what the article is about. You certainly know what the article is about, don't you, that's a technique of journalism and generally it's the responsibility of the author. Afterall, these people were murdered as a result of a conspiracy against them because of their religion. And the worst part, this attitude of it being acceptable in these cultures has been going on for centuries with us western Christians ignoring it or catering to it. Actually the title should have been, Christians deserved being murdered. That speaks more the truth of what is being said throughout the article. Martyrs Killed by Conspiracy is actually mile considering that the attitude that victims deserved being tortured and murdered because they aren't Moslems is engrained in the societies of the middle east and we western Christians act like we could care less. We are more interested in titles of articles being sensational instead of insisting the torture and murder of Christians be stopped.

Important story, glad to see it's being seriously considered, but the title of the story is a bit sensationalistic... I've been seeing that kind of thing more often on this site... what gives, CT? Need to "spice" up the headlines to get viewers? Hmm....
