Rush Hour 3
| posted 8/10/2007

  1. What is your sense of how Americans are perceived abroad? How is the U.S. perceived? Are perceptions different in different parts of the world? How? What are the reasons for these perceptions? How accurate or inaccurate are they?
  2. Do movies like this play any part in such perceptions? Would you say Rush Hour 3 is pro-American or anti-American? Why? What about American perceptions of the rest of the world—how accurate or inaccurate are these?
The Family Corner
For parents to consider

Rush Hour 3 is rated PG-13 for sequences of action violence, sexual content, nudity and language. There's plenty of martial-arts action violence, often comic and seldom if ever graphic. Chris Tucker's dialogue is replete with sexual and other crass references, and the name of Jesus is taken in vain more than once. There's a nightclub sequence with plenty of scantily clad women, including a brief glimpse of topless showgirls, and another scene (without graphic nudity) in which Carter leeringly examines a lineup of naked women in a dressing room. There's also a scene in which Carter briefly gets a lingerie-clad woman into bed.
