Style: Songs that are useful for contemporary worship leaders, but with a country back beat and storytelling style.
Top tracks: "Give Me Jesus," "Higher Ground," and "The Love of God"
In a nutshell: Some tracks on Todd Agnew's new album will make you want to lift your hands in worship, and others will make you want to jump in row for a line dance. There is no mistaking that Agnew's style here is heavily influenced by southern blues when you hear his strong country voice, storytelling nature, and use of back-beats. "Give Me Jesus" is a highlight of the album, showcasing a large gospel choir that gives the song an emotional momentum. But some tracks don't stand up to his best writing and seem hokey. If you like rockabilly, you will probably enjoy this. If not, this may not be your style.
