Uber-producer Aaron Sprinkle and his new outfit Fair break little new ground on their second album, working again from their well-worn playbook of glistening power pop moves. It's a sound that serves the quartet very well, though, allowing them to dabble in a bit of '70s-style groove ("Walking in My Sleep," "Great Divide") alongside smart and steady rockers. What has improved greatly is Sprinkle's lyrical output. Here he opts for a more clear-eyed view of broken relationships and giving yourself over to God after much struggle. It's the perfect mix of old and new, and will likely push Fair toward greater acclaim.

I'm a little lukewarm about this album. Loved their first one and I loved Poor Old Lu, his previous band. This one doesn't seem to have much staying power for me.

Absolutely love this record already. A definite contender for Album of the Year already. Pick this up!
