Fireflight
For Those Who Wait (Flicker Records)
Our Rating1 Star - Weak
Your Ratingcomment

Style: Chick rock in the style of Paramore, Flyleaf, and Brooke Barrettsmith

Top tracks: "For Those Who Wait" "Desperate," "You Give Me That Feeling"

Fireflight's third studio album with Flicker is packed with words of wisdom clearly pointed toward a young audience, with songs about overcoming addiction, living passionately, and waiting on God. The production on Wait, however, is so crispy clean and overdone that it loses its authenticity. Lead singer Dawn Michelle's killer voice is covered with effects and vocal overlay. Guitarist Justin Cox noted that the band explored new recording techniques this time around. But the best parts of this record are when Michelle's voice is raw and in the open, like the soft piano intro of "Name." Her voice is the best part of this album, but the production and songwriting fall short.

I am SO glad I didn't listen to this review! This is a great album, maybe better than Unbreakable. The first song, For those who wait, is a great opener, and its followed after that with some catchy and rocky songs. Dawn's vocals in "name" was amazing and raw. In desperate, she was SERIOUS. I would not ONLY reccomend this to young audiences, but to everyone.

This wasn't really a review, right? I really liked this album. There's no way it's a one-star album! Best of all, Fireflight is one of the few rock bands that sing genuine Christian/God-centered lyrics. So many are just "positive," "not bad," or are just so cryptic you don't know what they are talking about. Excellent album. Gets better with repeat listens.

Seriously?? One star?? This release isn't as good as Unbreakable, but its still a pretty good album.
