Aaron Keyes
Not Guilty Anymore (Kingsway)
Our Rating2 Stars - Fair
Your Ratingcomment

Style: Brit-pop/rock worship; compare to Brenton Brown, Vicky Beeching, Matt Redman

Top tracks: "You Never Cease to Amaze Me," "Forever Worthy," "Psalm 62"

Atlanta-based worship leader/songwriter Aaron Keyes is taking his national recording debut seriously, tackling doubt ("Where are You Now") and faith ("I Am Yours") while assessing the implications of Christ's sacrifice ("Not Guilty Anymore"). Co-writing with Stuart Townend to create a historic hymn cadence on "Psalm 62" and utilizing Steve Hindalong's corporate sensitivity on "Blessing and Honour," Keyes' songwriting legacy is already being honed. However, musically Keyes cloaks his queries in typical Brit pop/rock swag and production grants the music little more than standard worship fare. More than praise pop is needed to support his lyrical prowess.

While I agree that the music doesn't truly match the lyrical depth , it still is miles ahead of most worship artist out there. Give it a 2 out of 5 may stop some from checking it out . While I had to rate it 4 , I would give it a solid 3.5.Looking forward to seeing what he will do in the future.
