Let no one say that Dave Madden isn't ambitious. The Texas-based musician is self-releasing two CDs worth of music by download only, available via his website or by purchasing a lovingly designed booklet that features lyrics, the stories behind many of the songs, and a call to arms for musicians to stop releasing their work in physical form. Not surprisingly, the music found here is equally as bold. Madden treats listeners to grandiose Britpop-style epics, rousing expressions of modern-day faith in electric and acoustic versions, and bilious screeds about consumerism set to a driving rock tune. The size and scope of this project may seem daunting, but your efforts to tackle it will—much like the music here—be worthwhile and often exhilarating.
