Scourged
Paint and nails on canvas
By Glen LaMar

"This painting communicates the intense pain Christ suffered and the raw emotion he felt during the whipping he endured prior to his crucifixion. It also portrays his purity and holiness, that he was undeserving of such punishment. The nails around the image portend his imminent crucifixion. But Jesus Christ's spirit rose above the pain and suffering, because he knew it was a part of the Father's plan for people's salvation."
