Victorine Nadjilar is one of thousands of refugees awaiting assistance in Madana camp. "I was very afraid because I had never heard such noise in my life," said Nadjilar, who was visiting N'Djamena for the first time from her home in the countryside when the violence broke out. "Fire came out from airplanes and gunshots were heard from all over. Nobody could sit up because we are all afraid that a shell or stray bullet may hit us," she said.
