Michael Wear is a fascinating duck (an evangelical advisor to President Obama on faith issues). I've never met him (though we tried a couple of times), but I imagine we would talk (and argue) but become friends. His words here are worth your consideration.

This is a fascinating and tragic story. I know Presiding Bishop Jefferts Schori and I've taught at Nashotah House (in partnership with Gordon Conwell). I know (and care for) many of the players involved, having worked extensively with ACNA)— I'll even be preaching at Truro Anglican this summer.
Simply put, the whole situation is heartbreaking. I know there are evangelicals in The Episcopal Church, and I am thankful for them (for example, my friend Greg Brewer) and I understand the desire for unity, but I don't know how that can ever come as moments like this illustrate.
