Southern Evangelical Seminary (SES) has announced that Richard Land, retiring president of the Southern Baptist Convention's Ethics and Religious Liberty Committee (ERLC), will serve as the school's next president.
Land, who has served for nearly 25 years as president of the ERLC, announced his plan to retire last June. Now, he'll be headed to SES in North Carolina beginning July 1.
"My goal is to join with the SES family to produce an ever increasing number of graduates who will be the green berets and paratroopers of God's army, and who will be used by him to win tremendous victories for Christ and His kingdom," Land said in a statement.
SES co-founder and former president Norman Geisler tweeted the news and posted it to his Facebook page this morning:

According to Baptist Press, "as of April 11, [Land also] remained listed as executive editor of The Christian Post, a news service affiliated with Olivet University in California. Land has said he is affiliated with The Christian Post primarily in an advisory capacity."
Land has appeared quite frequently in CT, including on whether it is biblical to be pro-life and support the death penalty, as well as whether the same-sex marriage debate has helped pro-life advocacy.
CT also has reported on the ERLC, which announced in March that it had selected Russell Moore to replace Land as president.
