.Bible Joins .XXX as New Domain Name for Websites

'This is the Bible's moment to move from Gutenberg to Google,' states American Bible Society.

The creation of an .xxx domain for websites has drawn the lion's share of attention as the Internet continues to expand. But among the faith-based website endings hoping to join .com and .org in URLs, it looks like .bible will be one of the first ...

I agree, there are both true Christians who don't live in Christian social bubbles and false Christians who live either within or outside Christian social bubbles, but the main point is that Christians should not be so tight as to withdraw from secular circles altogether. We need to interact with, challenge, and witness to a fallen world. More specifically in relation to this article, I still fail to see the true need for the addition of Christian-only web domains, and I'm afraid it will come back to bite us eventually. Aside from the hacking and blocking potential, think of all the frauders that will be able to more easily pose as legitimate Christian organizations and be trusted by vulnerable people deceived firstly by the "Christian" domain...

Dear C J, the Christians I know (and work with) are busy living in this 'real' world, although we realize it is not nearly as 'real' as the one to come, which will endure forever (this world we all live in is only temporary and will burn up.) I also know a lot of unbelievers who live in "bubbles" pretending there is no eternal destiny ahead. Jesus made a clear distinction between Pharisees and those who are truly His - He said the Pharisees were children of the devil, not of God. I honestly have not known any believers who tried to "avoid" sinners for fear of being "tainted". The Lord says that everyone is born in sin, everyone is "tainted" until they have been born again by the Spirit of God, thus becoming His children. The Lord offers full salvation which includes forgiveness for every wrong thing every done, and grace which enables us to walk with Him in daily fellowship, experiencing eternal life which begins now. Instead of avoidance, we rejoice in sharing the Gospel.

Christians routinely and without effort create "bubbles" for themselves. Many (pharisaical) Christians claim to try to "avoid" sinners for fear of being "tainted". This of course upends everything Jesus taught and preached and lived and died for. But people try to do it nonetheless (as if avoiding "sinners" was possible or even a goal) - rather than evangelizing ministering to people.

Dear Audrey - With all due respect, that you don't know any Christians that live in "bubbles" in the real world, may, in fact, be unfortunate evidence that you yourself are living in such a bubble. At any rate, I would like to get more of an explanation of what this .xxx domain even is. For those of us not tech-literate, I did not feel that this article broke things down enough for this layman. As such, I do not know with such a move to an .xxx domain is a good thing or a bad thing. More info. please!
