New E-Reminders Help Church Leaders Meet Tax Deadlines
Richard Hammar Provides Tax, Finance, & Safety Deadlines to Keep Churches on Target

Carol Stream, IL January 13, 2010—Christianity Today International launches a new e-newsletter mid-January that is designed specifically for church leaders to help them keep their church safe, legal and financially sound. "Richard Hammar's Essential Reminders" is free and interested church professionals can subscribe today.

With each issue subscribers will receive reminders from attorney and CPA Richard R. Hammar. Richard Hammar's Essential Reminders will help church leaders stay alert to and schedule important dates throughout the year so they can plan and prepare to complete the tasks necessary to meet these deadlines. The help this e-newsletter provides won't stop there as each important item will offer links to resources to help church leaders meet the deadlines.

To get a taste of what readers will receive here is one sample tip from the inaugural issue of the e-newsletter: January 15 - Ministers (who have not elected voluntary withholding) and self-employed workers must file their fourth quarterly estimated federal tax payment for 2009 by this date (a similar rule applies in many states to payments of estimated state taxes). Employees of churches that filed a timely Form 8274 (waiving the church's obligation to withhold and pay FICA taxes) are treated as self-employed for Social Security, and are subject to the estimated tax deadlines with respect to their self-employment (Social Security) taxes unless they have entered into a voluntary withholding arrangement with their employing church.

Every church staff member will benefit from these tips. To sign up for your free e-newsletter go to ChristianityToday.com/Lyris/Subscribe/EssentialReminders.html and enter your e-mail address.
