About: Christian History & Biography
Christian History & Biography wants to connect contemporary Christians to their spiritual heritage by communicating church history in an engaging, accurate, and visual way. Since 1982 we've devoted each quarterly issue to a key person, topic, or event in the history of Christendom. Our subscribers, contributors, and consultants represent a variety of theological and denominational perspectives. Consequently, we seek to explore the Christian heritage in a nonsectarian and warm-hearted spirit.
Christian History & Biography is published quarterly by Christianity Today International, 465 Gundersen Drive, Carol Stream, Illinois 60188.
Meet the Staff of Christian History & Biography
Here's a quick introduction to the Christian History & Biography staff.
Jennifer Trafton is managing editor. She has an M.A. in church history from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and also did graduate study in religion at Duke University. Besides church history, Jennifer's loves include literature, the arts, creative writing, ice cream, and her adopted Shetland Sheepdog.
Doug Johnson is design director. He brings to CH&B a penchant for "cool stuff" like forts, catapults, and steam engines, a steady sense of rhythm from his days in the Yorktown Fife & Drum Corps near Colonial Williamsburg (where he met his wife, a mandolin player), and the inexhaustible patience and tolerance for mayhem gained from being the father of eight creative children.
Rebecca Golossanov is assistant editor. Rebecca brings a passion for church history, a healthy dose of cross-cultural sensitivity (she is a Virginian married to a Russian), and a keen eye for grammatical gaffes and factual goofs. Her background in visual communication and art history ideally suits her for one of her favorite tasks, picture research. She digs through 2000 years of art, artifacts, and photos to find those choice examples that will help us take you on a visual journey through the heritage of the church.
Emily Nieminski is designer. She is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana and has a soft spot for the Fighting Illini. Her historical interests include World War II, the Civil War and her husband, who is a history teacher.
David Neff is executive editor and an editorial vice-president of Christianity Today International. After ministering and teaching religion at Walla Walla College, David joined the editorial team at InterVarsity Press where he edited HIS magazine for college students and helped to found the Journal of Christian Nursing. David came to CTI in 1985 where he has worked on Christianity Today, Books & Culture, and Christian History & Biography. While on staff at Walla Walla College, David covered for faculty who were on sabbatical, and one year had to give himself a crash course in order to teach the church history survey. He lives in Wheaton, Illinois, with his wife who plays Erasmus to his Luther. They are the parents of two and grandparents of three.
