"I Want to Be Here for You" Lindsey Schroder as told to Carla Barnhill
 1 of 2

I became a Christian the summer after my freshman year in high school. Up until then, I had been involved in the "fun" crowd at school. We just wanted to have a good time. I dated a lot and did stuff with guys I really shouldn't have done. But the thing most people knew about me was that I had a really hard attitude. I was very focused on myself, what I wanted and what I needed. I just didn't care about people. I knew my friends, but I wasn't concerned with what was going on in their lives.
When I became a Christian the summer before my sophomore year, I wasn't very outspoken about it at first. I showed my faith more through my actions. I knew I had to separate myself from that old lifestyle. So even though I kept in contact with my old friends, they weren't my main group of friends anymore. I spent almost two years growing in my faith and getting to the point where I knew I could be with my old friends and not be tempted to fall back into that old lifestyle.
