Luna Tunes
If you heard the recent compilation Listen Louder (Sparrow), featuring artists like Jennifer Knapp, Newsboys, Delirious and Sonicflood, you might have wondered about that group Luna Halo—the ones who recorded "Humble Thyself" for the album. Wonder no longer. Luna Halo, comprised of Nathan Barlowe and Jonathan MacIntosh (formerly with the band Reality Check), and Brad Minor, recently released its debut CD, Shimmer (Sparrow). With soaring vocals and a modern rock vibe, Luna's a rising act you won't want to miss.
Jaci Goes to the Movies
Did you see the movie Music of the Heart? It features Meryl Streep as an inspiring music teacher who shares real love and big dreams with her students. Pretty cool story. And it turns out Jaci Velasquez has some music of her own to share on the Music of the Heart soundtrack, with a cut called, "Love Will Find You." The soundtrack also includes songs from 'N Sync and Gloria Estefan.
Jaci's first Latin album,
Llegar a Ti
(translation: Call to You), is now in stores.

It's Just Mock 'n' Roll!
You've probably heard of Christian "apologetics"—the practice of defending our faith. Well, take that, add current and classic rock 'n' roll, and you've got Apologetix. Calling themselves a "Christian parody band," Apologetix remakes songs like Fastball's "The Way," Smashmouth's "Walking on the Sun" and "Enter Sandman" by Metallica on its latest effort, Biblical Graffiti. (Think Weird Al with a Christian twist.) While you might know most of the tunes, the words are all new. The Beatles' "Twist and Shout" becomes "Twins Came Out," a ditty about Jacob and Esau, and The Hollies' "Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress" ends up as "Lawful Woman in a Bad Place," the story of Rahab. A little goofy? Yeah, but you won't get an apology from these guys.
