Jars of Clay's Matt Odmark and Switchfoot's Jon Foreman were recently honored at the Orville H. Gibson Guitar Awards, sort of the Grammys for guitarists. Matt won the award for Best Male Acoustic Guitarist (beating out Bob Dylan, Beck and Jon Bon Jovi!), while Jon won the Les Paul Horizon Award for the most promising young guitarist. Pictured between Matt (left) and Jon is the legendary Peter Frampton, who received the Lifetime Achievement Award.
Steven Curtis Chapman
Paging Steven …
"I felt like a failure."
So writes Steven Curtis Chapman in the preface to his book, The Great Adventure (J. Countryman). Steven honestly reveals his highs and lows in the book, which shares the title with his best-selling 1992 CD (Sparrow). The book explores topics like courage, temptation, honesty, creativity and faith.
And that part about feeling like a failure? SCC writes, "Because of God's grace, there is nothing we can do that will make him love us more than he already does. And there is nothing we can do or have done that will cause him to love us any less." Amen!
