"I Wanted to be the Next Britney"
ZOEgirl's Chrissy Conway dreamed of being a rich and famous pop star, but God had bigger plans.

In two days, Chrissy Conway thought all her dreams would come true—she would drive to New York, sign a record deal and become the next Britney Spears.

"Every record label was looking for their 'Britney Spears,' and that's what I was trying to go for. My demo was ready, and I had bought sexy clothes," says Chrissy, now a member of the Christian pop trio ZOEgirl.

What complicated things was that Chrissy had become a Christian during her record deal pursuit. While a fairly new believer, she began to feel like something wasn't quite right. She wondered if she was really where God would want her to be.

Up until then, she thought life was simply about following her dreams. But now with a looming record deal at hand, Chrissy no longer felt confident in taking the next step.

For the first time, Chrissy prayed about the music career she'd been pursuing. "I prayed, 'God, as much as I want to be a singer and be famous, if this is not what you want me to do, give me a sign, show me,'" Chrissy says.

The very next day, Chrissy got a call from Kristin Swinford, someone she had never met. Kristin lived across the country and had received Chrissy's phone number from a mutual contact they'd both met once. Kristin offered Chrissy the opportunity to join Alisa Girard and her in a Christian pop group called ZOEgirl.

"All of a sudden I felt this peace," Chrissy says. "I knew this was God's sign, and I didn't think twice about it. The secular record company thought I was crazy, my attorney thought I was crazy, but I never looked back. I knew it wasn't about the money or being famous, but what God wanted for my life."

And for ZOEgirl, the rest is history—Chrissy completed the group.

Today, Chrissy says that experience is a reminder of God's faithfulness and that he knows what's best for our lives.

"There is nothing I can do on my own that is going to be better than what God has in store for me," she says. "From that experience I learned that worshiping God is devoting everything to him—my heart, soul, strength and even my dreams."

Which is why ZOEgirl included the song "With All My Heart" on their latest album, Life (Sparrow).

Here are a few of the lyrics:

With all of my heart / I'm gonna love You / With all of my soul / I'll put my trust in You / With all of my strength / I'm standing beside You / With all of my everything / I will worship You, my King.

Chrissy, who co-wrote the song, says the lyrics she sings now are direct opposite to the ones she sang before joining ZOEgirl.

"I thought I knew where I'd be happy," says Chrissy. "But now I realize I'm the happiest wherever God wants me to be."
