A new Barna study reveals that, while most Americans (88%) own a Bible (including six out of ten atheists), antagonism toward it has increased. Many (66%) want the Bible taught in public schools, mostly for its moral principles. In fact, nearly half (47%) of Americans believe that the Bible, the Koran, and the Book of Mormon contain the same basic spiritual wisdom.
The creators of the new History Channel miniseries The Bible hope it will help fight biblical illiteracy. It's hard to imagine the series won't have some impact; the premiere episode was seen by 13.1 million viewers.
