Perhaps, according to a recent Grey Matter study. The decision to include your denomination in your church's name is complex. But there are pluses and minuses to either decision. The main deciding factor in how your church's name is perceived is age. Older people are more trusting of churches with a denominational moniker. Younger generations are much more divided on the issue.
Grey Matter's president (Ron Sellers) suggests that churches with a denominational name pay special attention to their visual branding to communicate that they are a fresh, vibrant congregation. Churches with an unaffiliated name can build trust with a clear tagline, he says.
