"Are Christians more like Jesus or more like Pharisees?" To answer this question, Barna surveyed 718 Christians from various denominations to discover whether their actions lined up with their beliefs. They discovered that only 1 in 7 Christians back up their Christian beliefs with Christ-like actions (although half are said to have self-righteous attitudes).

Scott McKnight responds to the study by clarifying the difference between a hypocrite and a Pharisee. He concludes, "There are no fewer hypocrites among Jesus' followers than there are among Jews, than among Muslims, than among Hindus, than among atheists. Hypocrisy is a human problem not a Jewish problem or a Christian problem."
