The culture war has a new public battlefield: Religious liberty. Here are some of the most recent skirmishes to keep you up to speed:
- The Supreme Court ruled for Hobby Lobby, but the case is still being fought in the court of public opinion. Ed Stetzer argued the Hobby Lobby case really was about religious liberty. But was it a victory? Skye Jethani isn't so sure.
- Then there was the Wheaton ruling—the Christian college was ruled exempt from the HHS contraception mandate.
- Then, Gordon College president D. Michael Lindsay, along with 14 other religious leaders, wrote a letter to the White House asking for a religious exemption to a planned order that would bar federal contractors from discriminating in hiring on the basis of sexual orientation.
Wherever you fall on the issues, the public implications of faith and conscience are being tested. How will that intersect life and opinion in your ministry context?
