Social media habits have been the subject of a lot of research and discussion recently.

A new Pew study shows an "on again, off again" pattern of use from Facebook users. Two standout stats? 61% of current Facebook users say that they have taken a several week or more break from the site. 20% of adults online who do not use Facebook say that they once did.

Related data shows that 67% of adults online use social media sites. There is a gender divide: 71% of women use social media, as opposed to 62% of men.
