Trend Watch

Perspective on the buzz

U.S. pastors—ever wish you could take a snapshot of your city's wellness? A free, nifty tool from Gallup can help you do it, and track useful trends for your ministry.

Their tool tallies multiple factors for "well-being" in U.S. metropolitan areas, including obesity, diabetes, level of optimism, and insurance coverage to produce a simple graph showing your area and the national numbers for each category.

Applications for your ministry are many—perhaps to coordinate outreach, get stats on a health initiative, or get a sense for how your community's outlook on life ("optimism" in the tool's language) stacks up against the national average.
