Perspective on the buzz

Immortality—the ultimate dream of alchemists, Ponce de Leon, and Victor Frankenstein. And now … Twitter users? Well, sort of. A recently developed app called LivesOn collates all of a dead Twitter user's previous tweets and uses a complex algorithm to continue to post tweets—according to its understanding of the user's personality—even after you die. Eternal life, for your Twitter handle at least.

"When your heart stops beating, you'll keep tweeting," the service promises.

Leadership Journal regularly reports on the intersection between social media culture and ministry. For recent examples, read: Social Tools, Better Leadership, Not Tweeting? Repent!, and Tweeting My Life Away.
