For hundreds of years, Christian groups in Jerusalem have been fighting for ownership of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre—the site in Jerusalem where Christ is believed to have been buried and to have risen from the dead. Learn the reasons for this ongoing strife in our first featured article, Divvying up the Most Sacred Place, from Christian History magazine.
We also highlight a Today's Christian interview with David Anderson, author and founding pastor of Bridgeway Community Church in Columbia, Maryland, who offers practical ways to reconcile the racial divisions in our country and in the body of Christ.
As always, be sure to check out the rest of the featured articles in the right-hand column below and on ChristianityToday.com.

Divvying up the Most Sacred Place Emotions have historically run high as Christians have staked their claims to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. By Chris Armstrong
Five years ago, chairs, iron bars, and fists flew on the roof of one of the most revered sites in Christianity, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem. When the dust cleared, 7 Ethiopian Orthodox monks and 4 Egyptian (Coptic) monks had been injured. The fight started when an Egyptian monk decided to move his chair into the shade—technically, argued the Ethiopians, encroaching on the latter's jurisdiction.

I took my aisle seat one Sunday as usual. We were packed into the pew, so I placed my purse on the floor.
When it was time for the offering, four older gentlemen began taking the collection. Suddenly, one started limping, as if he were going to fall down. We wondered if he was having a heart attack.
But I was the one whose heart nearly stopped. My purse strap was wrapped around his leg! He managed to escape but not before the contents of my purse trailed behind him. No one was hurt, there was a quick scramble for the items, and I survived the ribbing that came after.
