I love Liz Curtis Higgs. No matter what I'm doing, if I spy something written by her, I'm all over it! Her writing makes me laugh, cry, contemplate, and grow. She has the amazing gift of telling it like it is, but in a package that's challenging, interesting, and grace-filled. She leaves you nodding your head and saying, "Oh, yeah, that's so me!"
But the thing I love most about Liz is that she walks the talk. She's authentic and humble. Several years ago I ran into her at an awards ceremony (she was nominated) and she approached me, introduced herself (as if I didn't know who she was!), and made me feel so comfortable and accepted. Then last year when she discovered I was going through a difficult season, she sent me encouraging notes and phone calls (I still don't know where she found the time!). And each time I thought, I want to be like her. I want to live out my faith the way she does.
I'm thrilled that this week's download from our mentor series focuses on Liz's great wisdom and character-building thoughts on topics from surrender to competitiveness to calling. (And don't forget as a Kyria member, you get 20 percent off all downloads.) Also, you'll want to check out this week's lead article by Liz, "Once Upon a Time," on the divine power of storytelling.
