Your guide to an abundant single life from ChristianSinglesToday.com Thursday, October 4, 2007
During a recent conversation with a church friend of mine who's a social worker, I was disturbed by a study he cited. I can't remember the exact number he mentioned, but the percentage of pre-teen boys who struggle with internet pornography was disturbing.
I know from an article we ran at Today's Christian Woman magazine that pornography addiction isn't just a man's issue. I also know that numerous studies have documented the harmful effects of viewing porn—for men and for women, for marrieds and for singles, for adults and for pre-teens.
Have you ever struggled with pornography? If so, we want to hear your story at SinglesNewsletter@ChristianityToday.com. What negative side effects did porn produce in your life? If you overcame an addiction, how did you do it? We want to share these stories to offer hope to those still wrestling. Porn is destructive—but with Christ there's always the promise of hope and healing.
On a lighter note, this week's lead article takes a look at the issue of pursuit—why we crave it, how we cope without it, and where we truly find it. Don't miss this inspiring read.
Whatever you may be wrestling with this week, we pray you find God's grace sufficient—and comforting.
Blessings,

Camerin Courtney

Holy Pursuit by Stephanie Voiland
I never understood the beauty of pursuit—and the pain of its absence—until I met Gun. I first saw her in the red-light district in Bangkok, Thailand. Along with a few other people from my church on a short-term missions trip, I was walking down a neon-lit stretch of road called Soi Cowboy, where the commodity of choice is bodies. Most of the girls standing outside the bars are heartbreakingly young—teenagers who should be worrying about soccer or driver's ed, not about what their middle-aged Western "clients" expect of them.
