 Welcome

Every April, I get the opportunity to attend Gospel Music Week in Nashville. This is when all the artists gather to honor the best in Christian music with the Dove Awards. One of my favorite things to do during this week is to play a game in my head called, "Who's on This Elevator?" Seriously, there are so many CCM artists around—and so few elevators—that you never know who you'll see. Once I was on with both Hawk Nelson and Chris Tomlin. And last year, three bands all crammed onto one elevator car … and it got stuck.

Here's the thing: I think this elevator crammed with various artists is a great comparison to the next couple months at igniteyourfaith.com. I'm not kidding—our site is gonna be stuffed with music. Here's a preview:

  • The March/April print issue is arriving in mailboxes this week. In it are the results of our annual readers' choice awards, The Golden Ear Music Awards. If you don't get the mag, the results will be announced throughout April and May online.

  • To celebrate the Golden Ear Music Awards, we are giving away a ton of music. Every week in March and April, there will be a new CD (or CDs) to win. This week, you can win a copy of WOW Gospel 2008.

  • For the rest of the month, we'll feature an artist every week. This week, we have an article actually written by singer/songwriter Sara Groves. And we have profiles of Pettidee, Adie Camp, and Hawk Nelson on the way in coming weeks.

  • Speaking of Hawk Nelson, I'm proud to announce that Hawk will be the stars of our next episode of Heroes of Rock! It's coming in April …

  • Finally, we are working on a very special contest to start soon with Stellar Kart. Keep your eyes open. It's gonna be fun.

So if you are a music fan, igniteyourfaith.com is the place to be. And there are even more exciting things in the future for music fans, too!

Other than all this music, we have two new stories online. The first is about a guy who reached out to a lonely classmate. The second is about an amazing kid who is changing lives … with bubblewrap. Really.

Have a good week,
Todd Hertz

I was standing in my front yard when I saw Ben* walking down teh road in front of my house. It struck me as odd because he lives a ways down the road.

I didn't know him very well. He goes to the local high school, and I'm homeschooled. So our paths hardly ever crossed. But when I saw him that day, I felt like God was pushing me to give him a ride home.

Orientation Day Blues
I was exhausted, I missed my family, and I sure didn't feel like playing silly games with a bunch of strangers.

Bang! Bang! Bang! My dorm room door shook.

"Up and at 'em!" someone shouted through the door. "It's Chaos Day!"
