Not long ago, I saw Family Force 5 in concert for my sixth time. (I'm a big fan.) As usual, they rocked. And the packed crowd was really into it—especially the girl in front of me. She bounced up and down to every song and—because the crowd was so tightly bunched—with every jump, her ponytail whacked me in the face. Whap. Whap. Whap. But I couldn't blame her. She just couldn't stand still.
That kind of ponytail-flinging excitement is exactly why I love my job at Ignite Your Faith magazine. I'm the music editor and it's a blast—not just because I dig music, but also because I get to see your passion for it. One way I get to see that is through our Golden Ear Music Awards. This is your chance to tell us your favorite bands, singers and albums. Vote now. Just by voting, you're entered to win 25 free CDs from our friends at Christianbook.com. How cool is that?
But that's not all the music-related fun at IgniteYourFaith.com right now. Last week, we launched our first ever cartoon, Heroes of Rock! This first episode stars Superchic[k], another one of my faves. The best part: They all do their own voices (wait until you hear Matt rap all his lines!). If you've seen it, tell us what you think. And because Ignite can't rest if we're not giving stuff away, you can win a load of Superchic[k] stuff just by watching.
Want more rock? We're also posting a short Kids in the Way article today in which lead singer Dave Pelsue tells me about the dangers of judging a book by the cover.
So, that's a lot of stuff to be excited about today—and that's not even mentioning the rockin' story by my friend Tom about the flaws of every movie hero. If you've never realized how much Captain Jack Sparrow is like Jacob from the Bible, you might want to take a look!
Have a good week,
Todd Hertz

But we don't want you to just watch. We want you to WIN. One Grand Prize Winner will get a Superchic[k] prize pack of the band's CDs, a T-shirt, an autographed photo, and two tickets to a concert (retail value: $150).

Imperfect Heroes All Heroic Movie Characters have something holding them back. by Tom WP Kapr
I love to tag along on amazing adventures with great heroes. However, the funny thing I've noticed about movie heroes—like Indiana Jones, Luke Skywalker, and Harry Potter—is that they aren't perfect.

LOVE, SEX & DATING I'm Still Attracted to My Friend Q. A couple of years ago, I worked up the courage to tell a friend I liked her. She's funny, self-assured, smart and serious about her faith. She'd been my good friend for a long time, and I thought she'd be a great girlfriend. It turns out she didn't want to date me, but she still wanted to be my friend. The problem is that I haven't been able to get over her. I'm still really attracted to her. We've stayed friends, but I'm wondering if I should just take a break from her for a while. How do I get my emotions under control?
