God's Guidance

Key Bible Verse:

Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed

(Proverbs 15:22). Bonus Reading: Proverbs 11:14, 20:18, 24:5-6

Last year, we were driving 35 minutes each way to church. The kids were getting involved in the youth group, and we wanted to be nearby. Mary and I began to pray about this and to scope out areas closer to the church.

[We learned that] a couple in our church had been praying for three years for the right family to have their home, which had been used for ministry.

Mary and I prayed. Then we sought godly wisdom. I talked with several close friends, my parents, my two brothers, two CPAs, and a tax attorney—all of them Christians. We laid out the situation. Each said, "Go for it. It Looks like God is in it." So we moved ahead with confidence.

—Steve Farrar in Spiritual Survival During the Y2K Crisis

Personal Challenge

Instead of making a decision in isolation, ask one or two friends to pray about it with you.

Thought to Apply

It is better to ask the way ten times than to take the wrong road once.
