Fear Took Over
God's Amazing Love

One Saturday, Mother took us to the pool. I didn't like a boy there, Jeffrey Moore, because he was a great swimmer who showed off, while all I could do was dog-paddle.
I was trying to be more than I could be. I had measured down the side how far I could jump in and still stand. This time my measurements came up short. When I jumped in and came up, I went right back down. But I didn't have enough sense to call for help. Fear took over. I went down a second time, came up and was on my way back down.
Suddenly I felt two hands grab me and lift me until my head broke the surface. Before I could see who it was, I heard the voice of Jeffrey: "You're gonna be all right now!"
Jeffrey jumped in and saved me when I didn't deserve it and was being stupid. If it had been up to me, Jeffrey wouldn't have even been in that pool. Like Jeffrey, Jesus looks beyond our faults and sees our needs. I don't know why He sacrificed His life the way He did, but I'm so glad He did!
