After God intersected his life, Robert ran for the local school board and was elected chairman.
Gay-rights activists swarmed the school board meetings and used the local media to pressure the inclusion of gay-education curriculum to combat homophobia and heterosexism. Special interest groups tried to force placement of ungodly books in school classrooms. Other organizations proposed condom machines in school bathrooms.
Robert believed his city needed a man of conviction to stand up for truth instead of political correctness. As he established his position and challenged the interest groups, Robert was falsely accused of immorality, blamed for society's ills, and constantly heckled during meetings.
God had prepared Robert for a time when the moral education of his city's children was at stake, and he stood firm during the crisis. His character shone through in the midst of massive opposition.
