Q.How can one bring the kingdom of Christ to a place of work?
A.Here are some questions to stimulate thinking about the value of your work in kingdom terms:
For Saturday:
Are you an asset or a liability? Does your employer consider you a distinct asset to the business so that, aside from your "niceness," you are worth what he pays you (or even more)?
Are you managing the routines? If Christ were to sit at your desk, make your rounds, sell your widgets or provide your service, what would be the atmosphere?
Which issues you are prepared to stand for? What decisions will you be called to make or influence that will make a significant difference in the direction your organization takes? What issues would cause you to bet your career and your personal security?
For Sunday:
Are you in a position to spread Christ-following values? What values will you identify with and "evangelize" among your colleagues and associates? Are you alert to times in your workplace when significant values are being violated? Will you be passive, reacting to things when they come to you, or proactive, pressing for values higher than the "bottom line"?
Has your real-world faith helped some people to be come Christ-followers? Have you developed genuine enough relationships that a conversation about Christ might be a natural topic? Is there anything about your Christ- following that would make a colleague curious about what drives you?
