I was recently in a local hospital to pray a blessing over Zina, a dear woman in our church, on the arrival of her tenth child, a beautiful, healthy baby girl. As Zina and her newest child cuddled for a few minutes before they whisked the baby away for her first bath, Zina lifted her arm and quizzed her husband. "Did you check the numbers on our bracelets?" she asked. "Are they the same?"

She was referring to the hospital ID bracelets. Zina's husband made one more check. "Yes, honey," he replied. He then told me about the hospital's security system. If someone else tried to get on the elevator with the baby, the doors wouldn't shut.

As I walked out the doors of the hospital, I was reminded of the words of our heavenly Father: "Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you!" (Isaiah 49:15). God has his own security system. God will never forget us. He knows our names.
