Power of the "Unqualified"
This Week's Theme: On God's Mission
Sunday, October 22

Key Bible Verse: Though the Lord is on high, he looks upon the lowly, but the proud he knows from afar (Psalm 138:6).
Bonus Reading: Acts 8:1b-4; 1 Corinthians 1:26-29

During a span of five short years, over 1,500 volunteers, from all walks of life, all church backgrounds and several countries, have gone to 63 cities in 8 countries of the former Soviet Union—each for a period of one year. Close to 95 percent of these folks never had formal missions training or vocational ministry experience. Yet they heard the call, raised the money, and went to spread the gospel.

In many cities in the early nineties they were the first foreigners to arrive with the gospel. As Nelson Malwitz, founder of the Finisher's Second Career Missionary Movement observed about these Co-Missioners, "Most all were people from the work place. … my observation was that these were not a collection of 'poster people' but the Lord used the ordinary, the humble, to outperform the proud. If the Lord can use that bunch, He can use any. He only is looking for clean and available vessels."

Looking at the scene worldwide, we see that the believing community is growing fastest where there is ministry of and by the people of God. The "unqualified" and "untrained" are being mightily used by the Holy Spirit because of their simple obedience to His call for holiness, faith and commitment.
