Key Bible Verse: "I, however, followed the Lord my God wholeheartedly" (Joshua 14:8b). Bonus Reading:Joshua 14:6-14
As a teen, he was the promise of his uncle's Atlanta businessuntil he informed him that business wasn't his passion; Jesus was. The angry uncle disinherited him. The runner married and balanced Bible school studies with pastoring. Turned down by two mission agencies for health reasons, they were accepted by a third. Following linguistic studies, they sailed for Latin America.
Over the next decades, their race took them to three Latin American countries for ministry, then 12 years as the mission CEO in the U.S.
Approaching 60, this runner informed the agency that he and his wife wanted to return to field-based ministry, in Spain under a younger man they'd recruited years before. The board chairman admonished him, "Sir, no bank president returns to be a teller." To which he replied, "I don't work in a bank."
For five years they developed a camp and conference center, turning it over to Spanish leaders. They then returned to metropolitan Atlanta and planted seven Hispanic churches. Now in their late 80s and nearing the finish line, they teach weekly Bible classes.
