Richard has been meeting for about three years with five other men. For the first 18 months he really kept himself closed up. But God continued inviting and discipling him through these men as they challenged and loved him. Then one day he risked letting the men into the deeper places of his soul. For the first time, they brought the love of God into some deeply hurting and sinful places in his life.
The example of these true brothers slowly transformed Richard's way of relating. He became freer and more spontaneous in sacrificing his life for others. At work his colleagues often were surprised to receive notes of encouragement from him. At times when they were struggling in their work relationships, Richard would notice and help them work through the issues. He never seemed too preoccupied to sense the spirit of the work place. His servant-heart began to make a real difference in the quality of their relationships.
Richard has let God affirm his manhood through others, especially the five men in his small group and those people at work.
