Do You Do Bathrooms?
This Week's Theme: Faithfulness to God
Dony McGuire and Reba Rambo (McGuire)
Saturday, December 30, 2000

In 1992, the Rambo/McGuire Team converted a bus into a mentoring and discipling program on wheels. Bombarded with requests from pastors, parents and kids, they established some guidelines.

Q. What disqualified the most applicants?

A. Dony: Our first question is "Who's your pastor?" I'm overwhelmed by the number of people who somehow expect to be used in God's kingdom but have absolutely no sense of connection to eldership.

What disqualifies the next most?

Dony: Question number two, which asks, "Will your pastor vouch for your faithfulness in the local church for the past 12 months?" Have you been faithful in the choir? over the little assignments? to your Youth Department? in your covenant over His tithe and your offering? to show up for special work days? Are you submissive to those God has placed over you and your gifts? Can your pastor attest to the worldwide potential for your ministry-gift?

So what happens to those who get accepted?

Reba: They're given their first assignment. Handed a roll of paper towels and a bottle of 409 cleanser, they're pointed in the direction of the bathrooms. Shock waves have been seen to attack many as the words, "I don't do bathrooms" form on their lips. If that attitude is truly in their hearts, then they also don't do training camp. If a person isn't willing to serve, that person has little hope for greatness in His kingdom. If a person won't humble himself, the Lord won't lift him up.

Dony McGuire and Reba Rambo (McGuire) are musicians with a mentoring ministry.
