Thirty-four years after I became a believer, my next older brother, Bob, was diagnosed with brain cancer. I traveled to see him in the hospital. He said, "Don, I'm doing a lot of thinking about God." We started studying the Bible together by mail, and I visited him every few weeks. Bob became a believer only a few months before he died.

At his funeral, I said something about the conversations we'd had. Afterward, my other brother, Philip, said, "Don, I know you couldn't say those things about me, but it was great to hear about Bob becoming a Christian."

A year and a half later Philip would also be diagnosed with a brain tumor. During that interval, I took a trip with him to visit relatives in Wyoming, and we got into a conversation about spiritual things. Philip began studying a book on Christianity and within the next year became a believer.

For 38 years I prayed for my family before all came to Christ. The odds that they'd become believers looked pretty long, but I prayed for them and continued to talk to them about God. God is faithful and sure in doing His work in His own time.
