Several years ago, I had a particular burden for the young men attending a university in our city. I prayed for these students regularly, asking God to bring them to a point of commitment to Christ. The more I prayed, the more I became convinced that God wanted to use me to share the gospel with them. Impressed to witness to five of these young men, I set up individual appointments with them on the same afternoon. Then the miraculous happened. In less than three hours, all five placed their faith in Jesus!
I learned two important lessons. First, pay close attention to the individuals God gives you a concern for. It's the Spirit of God speaking to you. Second, take advantage of that opportunity to share the gospel with them. It's the Spirit of God leading you.
That doesn't mean that every time you share the gospel that person will become a Christian. Some times the Holy Spirit uses us as "sowers" instead of "reapers"—one link in a chain of events which ultimately will bring a person to Christ. Our job is to yield our lives to the Holy Spirit. His job is to produce fruit in His time.
