How God Made Chris Feel Special This Week's Theme: Praying for Your Family John Yates Thursday, November 30, 2000
 1 of 1

Key Bible Verse: And Abraham said to God, "If only Ishmael might live under your blessing!" (Genesis:17:18). Bonus Reading:Job:1:1-5
One year, Susan was particularly concerned that our younger son, Chris, was getting lost in the midst of our five children. Close in age to his demanding little twin sisters, he always seemed to be left out. So we began to pray that somehow he'd begin to know just how important he was.
Months later, Chris, about 11 at the time, was swinging on a high bar and fell headfirst onto the cement below. The injury was serious, and he was hospitalized for some time. Finally, he was released and, on the way home, he and Susan were discussing all he'd been through.
What impressed him most was this: From the moment he'd recovered consciousness, scores of people had been to see him, and they'd showered him with love. One college boy who'd visited Chris had told him he had a strong sense that God had some special purpose for Chris's life.
As he reflected on these things, Chris said, "I think the one thing I've learned from all this, that I never really knew before, is just how special I amand how many people love me and believe in me."
In a strange, unexpected way, God answered our prayer.
