Sideline Victory This Week's Theme: Contagious Faith Ron Brown Sunday, November 5, 2000

Key Bible Verse: Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! (2 Corinthians:5:17). Bonus Reading: 2 2 Corinthians:5:18-6:1
As a University of Nebraska assistant coach, I hit the sidelines before our football team and head coach make their grand entrance. Especially before bowl games, I like to pull out my New Testament and read while enjoying the bands and fireworks.
In 1998 we faced Arizona in the Holiday Bowl. As I dug into the Word, I was interrupted by "Would you pray for me?" It was our bus driver asking me to pray that he'd get another chance to play football at his junior college.
I felt sure that God wanted to give him much more. So I turned down "Romans Road" (3:23; 6:23, 10:9-13), explaining over the stadium noise about who he is and who Jesus is. The driver admitted he didn't know Him as his Savior. With the marching band blaring, I asked if he wanted eternal life. "Yes," he said as the National Anthem began. When it ended, he prayed with me to receive Jesus.
The team exploded onto the field. I stood on the sideline, headset in hands—exhausted. We lost 23-20. But I celebrated a greater victory: a bus driver giving up the wheel of his life to the Master Driver.

Lord, I pray you would use me to share Christ with one person this week.
