Key Bible Verse: As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another (Proverbs 27:17).
Bonus Reading:Hebrews 10:24-25

Greg liked nothing better than hopping online. He found himself in front of the keyboard almost every evening and on weekends. At work, he often surfed the Net on his lunch hour. At home, Greg kept up with his e-mail, tracked stocks and mutual funds, and participated in chat rooms. He never meant to spend so much time online, but it was all so fascinating that the time just flew by.

Of course, his wife wasn't thrilled. She complained she never got to spend any time with him. His kids had stopped asking if he'd help them with their homework or play a game. He'd offered to do something with them on the computer, but they often wanted to do things outside.

He used to belong to a fraternal organization, but he stopped going because he just couldn't find the time every third Thursday. On Sunday mornings, Fran usually took the kids by herself to church because Saturday night was prime Net time, and he just couldn't make that early service anymore.

While Greg was busy connecting to life online, he didn't realize he was disconnecting from all his other relationships.

—Gregory L. Jantz in Hidden Dangers of the Internet

Respond:

Does the time you invest in your face-to-face and online relationships square with their value?

Thought to Apply:

Is any pleasure on earth as great as a circle of Christian friends by a fire?

—C. S. Lewis (British scholar, writer, 20th century) Adapted from: Hidden Dangers of the Internet (Shaw, 1998).

0Prayer for the Week

God, I am lost without You to save me. Please unentangle my feet, so I may run Your race with swiftness, and make me clean.
