Today, when I brought a bundle of pine trees down from Mrs. Mac's place in the wheelbarrow, you put a little pine tree in your plastic wheelbarrow. You like to wear one of my old ties around the house and proudly announce: "Gotta go to work."
On the other hand, we were driving down Greenwood the other day when a green light turned yellow and I was forced to stop. While I did so, I uttered a not-so-nice word. And a few seconds later, you reminded me of what that word wassort of like when I was a boy and we'd stop to get a Coke on our way to Suttle Lake where there was this mockingbird that repeated whatever I said.
We teach our children even when we don't think school is in sessionhow we react as a Little League coach when the ump blows a call, how we treat our wives after we've both had rugged days at work, what we say when we see a homeless man on the street, what we do when the clerk accidentally gives us a dollar too much change.
Our sons are sponges, quietly soaking up all we say and do.
