Key Bible Verse: Do not be like your fathers and brothers, who were unfaithful to the Lord (2 Chronicles 30:7a).
Bonus Reading:Ezekiel 20:18-19

When I was ten, my father took me with him to the city on a business trip. We checked in at a hotel Friday evening, ate in the restaurant, and went to our room. Then Dad left, saying he'd be back before the pool closed and we'd swim together. I put on my trunks and waited. The pool closing time came and went.

"Around 11:30, there was a knock on the door. It was a woman asking for my father. I said I thought he'd gone to a room down the hall. We went; she knocked. A man with a beer answered and called for my Dad. Looking past him, I saw a bunch of men and several women with very little on. I could tell Dad wasn't expecting me. 'Get back to your room and don't tell your mother,' he growled as he took the woman's hand and shut the door.

"I stumbled back to my room, grasping that my father wasn't here to do business or to spend time with me. He never came back till late Sunday afternoon, eyes swollen and glazed. To this day, I'm not sure how we made it home. Today, 25 years later, the inside of me still feels frozen."

—told to Steve Masterson in Out of the Locker Room

Respond:

The chain can be broken. Thank God for claiming your life and giving you His Spirit to help you.

Thought to Apply:

Be reasonable—don't expect your youngsters to listen to your advice and ignore your example.
